      Job Specifications

  1. Oversee the development and adoption of policies, standards and guidelines on planning, design, construction, operations, and maintenance of Konza Technopolis buildings;
  2. Oversee the development and implementation of Division's strategies and action plans that ensures delivery and operation of sustainable, fit for purpose building infrastructure within the city;
  3. Oversee the review and provision of professional support and advice on buildings to support undertaking of studies, appraisals or research aimed at determining viability and approach to undertake Technopolis infrastructure;
  4. Plan and coordinate the preparation buildings technical documents to be used in authorizing implementation;
  5. Coordinate the provision of technical support and advice to programmes and initiatives spearheaded by other entities working in collaboration with the Authority to support the buildings development;
  6. Oversee the planning, design, construction, operations, and maintenance of Konza Technopolis buildings in coordination with other infrastructure divisions;
  7. Advise on buildings to support the strategic plan development/ review;
  8. Support the Authority in prospecting and analysing new initiatives aimed at development of buildings to accommodate businesses needs;
  9. Leads, coaches and mentors the team creating an environment that promotes creativity, innovations and maximises the potential of the team;
  10. Oversees the establishment of procedures for approval of materials, sample work and methodologies to be incorporated or followed during construction of buildings;
  11. Oversee testing, commissioning and acceptance or sign off of buildings in accordance with contract provisions, applicable regulations, and standards;
  12. Oversee the preparation and storage of complete buildings project documentation (including designs, as built drawings, operational and maintenance manuals) for proper archival and retrieval;
  13. Coordinate the development of terms of reference (TORs) or work requirements for external services in buildings infrastructure;
  14. Coordinate service providers and stakeholders involved in design of buildings infrastructure;
  15. Coordinate the review of designs and specifications of buildings and ensure compliance with the Authority's guidelines and requirements as well as applicable laws, regulations, and standards;
  16. Collaborate with other entities supporting the development of buildings;
  17. Oversee the start of buildings construction;
  18. Ensure tests and inspections of buildings comply with contract requirements and technical specifications;
  19. Approve buildings and associated structures/works infrastructure costs;
  20. Oversee preparations and provision of relevant documents such as inspections, work approval and test certificates to support payment of buildings and associated installations;
  21. Provide progress reports of buildings projects;
  22. Sign off to confirm satisfactory completion and operation of all buildings;
  23. Coordinate the final handover of buildings and ensuring together with consultants and contractors the suitability, completeness, and functionality of the same before settlement of the final account as per contract provisions;
  24. Oversee the operation and maintenance of buildings; and
  25. Carry out day-to-day management and coordination of the Division including administering staff leave; performance planning, monitoring & evaluation; assigning work; providing guidance or counsel; and reviewing/preparing management reports.

  For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:

  1. At least Ten (10) years equivalent work experience in buildings and associated structures/works, three (3) of which must be in a management position.
  2. Master’s Degree in architecture, building economics, quantity surveying, structural engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, civil engineering, or equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution.
  3. Bachelor’s Degree in architecture, building economics, quantity surveying, structural engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, civil engineering, or equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution.
  4. A management Course lasting not less than four weeks from a recognized institution.
  5. Registered as a professional with the relevant registration board and in good standing.
