Duties and responsibilities

  1. Advising the Board and management on various legal matters to ensure compliance of the with various statutes, laws and regulations;
  2. Providing advice on legal and corporate matters to the Board through interpretation and writing legal opinions;
  3. Providing secretariat services to the Board;
  4. Developing and reviewing relevant regulatory Legal framework to enable implementation of the Authority’s mandate;
  5. Coordinating and ensuring representation of the Authority in courts or other judicial authorities;
  6. Drafting and reviewing Contracts, Licensing Frameworks, Service Level Agreements, Memorandum of Understanding, leases and other legal documents to ensure compliance to statutory requirements and the Authority’s policies;
  7. Liaising with the Attorney General, law enforcement agencies and stakeholders on all legal matters;
  8. Ensuring that Legal Audit Compliance is carried out to confirm compliance with relevant statutory requirements;
  9. Overseeing implementation of Mwongozo, Code of Conduct at the Authority; and
  10. Formulating, drafting and facilitating gazettement of Rules, Regulations and Directives issued by or on behalf of the Authority.

 

For appointment to this grade, an officer must have:

  1. A minimum of ten (10) years in relevant work experience and at least three (3) years in supervisory role in the Public or Private Sector;
  2. Bachelor of Laws degree from a recognized institution;
  3. Master’s degree in any of the following disciplines; Law, Business Administration, Public Administration, or equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution;
  4. Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Studies from the Kenya School of Law;
  5. Admitted as an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya;
  6. Certified Public Secretary or its equivalent will be an added advantage
  7. Management Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution;
  8. Proficiency in computer applications;
  9. Fulfil the requirements of Chapter Six of the constitution; and
  10. Demonstrated competence in work performance.
